Secret Service Admits Security Failures During Trump Assassination Attempt in July

The U.S. Secret Service has officially acknowledged lapses in security during the assassination attempt on former Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in July. The admission comes after an internal investigation revealed serious shortcomings in the agency’s handling of the incident.

In a press briefing on the 20th, Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Roe confirmed the findings, stating, "We have identified critical issues with both the pre-planning and execution of our protective measures."

Roe detailed a key failure, explaining, "At 6:10 p.m. local time, I informed a sniper agent about individuals spotted on the roof of the AGR building, where the shooter later positioned himself. Unfortunately, that vital information was not properly relayed through the Secret Service’s wireless communication system."

The failure has raised concerns about the agency's protocols and its ability to prevent future threats.
